2012 - Mayans, Movies & Mayhem!

My husband James, my step-son David and I went on Friday to the opening night of the new doomsday blockbuster movie-premiere of “2012″. It was a portrayal of all of the worst-case scenarios around 2012 - glammed up Hollywood style. The movie begins with a US government investigation into (and cover-up of) global changes in the earth’s crusts leading up to 2012… Then all hell breaks loose in an action sequence with the people of the world dealing with mass suicide, and natural catastrophes including earth quakes, fires, volcanoes, tidal waves, and more… all of epic proportions and of course in heroic attempt to save the world from Armageddon and total extinction. For me, it was laughable but entertaining!
There are a number of Mayan calendars (ie. Tzolkin, Haab etc) measuring a number of things and this has stumped scholars for decades and decades. The long and short of it is that “the mayan calendar” everyone is talking about right now measures changes in the consciousness of the planet. As we come into 2012 and the completion of a 26,000 year cycle, subtle and not-so-subtle shifts are already taking place.
So…

- 2012 - the end of the world as we know it (the old matrix of greedy corporations, corrupt politicans, out-of-control consumerism, mass disconnection from each other and nature)? Possibly.
- 2012 - the beginning of a newer, more wonderful world to live in (a new matrix of unconditional love, peace for everyone, understanding and compassion, non-judgment and harmony)? Possibly.

Whatever you believe 2012 represents will likely show up in your world. Change brings turmoil if you are not aware. Make sure you have tools, resources and support that you need to help you navigate life’s path… today, in 2012 and beyond!
A great resource on coping with change is the book called Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson.
Another treat to read is the book called Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway by Susan Jeffers.
I personally invite you to cast aside your fears, judgements and concerns about 2012 and request that you practice peace now, today, in your life with your loved ones. It starts with you and it comes from within.
Here are just a few ideas of how to shift from turmoil to peace, to get you started:
- Share your miracles daily with someone,
- Write in a gratitude journal
- Spend time in nature, away from the bustle of the city, and listen to the ebb and flow of Mother Nature,
- Tell someone you love them (sincerely and from your heart),
- Share your appreciations with others,
- Sing! (”we are the world” comes to my mind!!)
- Share some of your time with a volunteer organization,
- Light a candle for love,
- Meditate for 5 minutes on all of the joys in your life,
- Give someone a hug,
- …and more!
