mindfulness_treeWith December’s solstice, we marked the darkest time and the coming of the light. A great time to become mindful of what we want and where we are at.

Mindfulness can help us heal our disordered thinking, eating, relationships etc and the issues that drive them.

We would like to gift you this exercise to bring yourself in to mindfulness and turn the power of it to healing your mind, body and spirit.

At a quiet 10 minute break in your day, relax deeply and do the following inquiry:

#1 - Start with becoming mindful of your breathing; is it easy, strained, shallow?

#2 - Notice what sensations, emotions and thoughts come up when you pay follow your breathing.

mindfulness_drop-of-water #3 - When any intense emotion, sensation or thought has been acknowledged and diminishes (and it will with sustained mindfulness), consider your body and become mindful of any parts of it that you particularly like or dislike, staying with the specific part until intense reactions have diminished.

#4 - Then consider what you have eaten and will eat and become mindful of your reactions to this.

#5 - Next consider if there is anything that comes to mind to do to make yourself more at ease in your body, at ease with the food or at ease generally in your life at the moment. Just open your awareness to the idea, waiting patiently and mindfully. If nothing comes simply acknowledge that.

#6 - Lastly, expand your perception to look for the desires you have for the upcoming seasonal cycle. What do you want to experience in the next few months? Just let your desires come gentle to mind. Receive them gracefully, simply noting any negative backlash that may also be created in reaction to becoming aware of your current desires. mindfulness_rocks

This practice of mindfulness has vast consequence for you. Just by doing this simple exercise you will have:

  • lowered your emotional reactivity,
  • uncovered some unconscious urges and opinions,
  • gained clarity in your relationship with your body,
  • created a new neural pathway of relaxation,
  • removed some of the unconsciousness in your eating patterns,
  • initiated the reintegration of your body, brain and breath,
  • tapped your intuition,
  • reoriented to ease and desire in life,
  • let your desires activate your automatic achievement system, and
  • created a whole lot of good chemicals in your brain and body.

Compulsiveness (of negative thinking, over-eating, over-spending, emotional drama etc) is a disease of disconnection. Applied mindfulness can bring tremendous healing.
